An Inside Look at Our Top 2 Wondercamp Themes

Wondercamp is our exclusive summer camp experience offered across our community of Learning Care Group (LCG) schools. It’s packed with hands-on activities, games, projects, and more!

Designed for toddlers to school-age students (up to age 8) , every day is filled with the potential for wonder as we explore and discover new opportunities fueled by each child’s curiosity and creativity.

Wondercamp is divided into 10 Wonders Weeks—each with its own theme and unique activities. From nature to invention and crafts to 3D building, there’s something for everyone! Whether it’s an existing interest or something new your child connects with in the moment, there’s never a dull moment. Each theme is tailored to match all age group’s skills and abilities and can be tied into local community events.

Wondercamp debuted during the summer of 2024. According to enrollment numbers, family reviews, and feedback from our schools, every week was successful but TWO stood out as favorites among Wondercampers: Wonders of Mess Making and Wonders of Water.

Let’s get messy and dive into both to give you an inside look at each experience.

Wonders of Mess Making

Messy play builds confidence and creativity, invites children to focus, engages all the senses, and includes learning across all domains. The possibilities for creative play multiply when children can combine materials in new and interesting ways.

Last summer, students were able to dive into messes with guided exploration. It was an incredible experience for children to dig their hands into the mud, manipulate clay, and experiment with paint. When given the chance to explore freely, children can practice independence and build their creativity. We also discuss how even the messiest of messes can be cleaned up, and we work together to do so.

Important packing note: You’ll need to send a couple of extra outfits if you’re planning to attend this week of Wondercamp. As you might imagine, we will be getting messy—on purpose

Wonders of Water

Water creates sound as it moves and flows. Think about waves crashing, drops of rain falling, splashing around in puddles, or playing at a water table. Water even generates different musical tones when different amounts are used to fill various vessels. Water is also related to many daily routines that children see and love to mimic, including handwashing, pouring cups of water to drink, washing dishes, and bath time. Throughout this week of Wondercamp, children can search for water on maps, mix colors, build waterfalls, and do many more hands-on activities.

Participating in these projects encourages problem-solving, language development, and motor skills. Water is so much fun, but during Wonders of Water, teachers also focus on the importance of water safety and diligently prepare each activity with safety in mind.

Experience Wondercamp in 2025

One of the most valuable things about Wondercamp is, that no matter what week you attend, our teachers are encouraged to join in the play and listen to the children’s ideas to help guide their curiosity toward new experiences. When children are given the chance to lead their learning by following their interests and imagination, the possibilities are endless.
