Warm Apple Blueberry Bake

In many places, fall brings a welcome shift in temperatures. The heat of the summer begins to fade, giving way to crisp, cool mornings, comfortable seasonal layers, and cozy favorites in the kitchen. If you live in a community where the leaves are starting to change, you’re likely also feeling drawn to the local apple orchard or cider mill to embrace autumn traditions

Our recipe this month leans into the sweetness of fresh produce that can be gathered by picking your own selections, right from the tree or bush. We’ll be making an Apple Blueberry Bake that will warm your belly and home with the delightful smells of cinnamon and fruity goodness. It’s best served warm and will feed 6-8 people, depending on portions.

Let’s get started by preparing five simple ingredients:

  • 4 cups apples, diced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • ¼ cup margarine, melted
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ cup sugar

To begin, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. If you’re using a convection oven, set it at 400 degrees.

Combine the apples, blueberries, margarine, cinnamon, and sugar in a baking dish.

Bake it for about 15 to 30 minutes or until the mixture reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees. By this time, the liquids should have thickened into a syrup-like texture to create a rich, fruity sauce.

Let your Apple Blueberry Bake cool slightly before serving warm and enjoy!

Remember, if you don’t have access to collecting your fruit harvest from a nearby orchard, you can purchase apples and/or blueberries directly from your local farmers’ market, in a regional farm share (CSA), or from the grocery store.
