At U-GRO Learning Centres, we understand that in order to provide the highest quality care and education, our staff must be a priority. Our team consists of passionate individuals who dedicate their time and talent every day to our students and families.
In addition to our core teaching staff, there are many individuals who play an important role in the U-GRO Learning Centres community. These may be team members who provide tours to families, support our teachers’ development, or coordinate curriculum, to name a few.
These roles are great opportunities for teaching staff to grow their careers within an organization they love. Keep reading to learn more about three of these roles and how they impact our children’s education and the U-GRO community.
Some members of our core teaching staff choose to become a team facilitator in addition to their current position at U-GRO. A team facilitator is responsible for promoting a positive and engaging U-GRO culture by living and sharing expectations related to the organization’s core values. In this role, the facilitator is a liaison between team members and center leadership. He or she provides additional support to enhance accountability and the flow of information and communication between team members and leadership. This is a great first step for a teacher who is looking to be a director in the future.
The curriculum coordinator position is the perfect opportunity for core teaching staff who want to participate in the implementation of curriculum. Our curriculum coordinator is part of the Curriculum Committee, which consists of other coordinators and the Director of Education & Curriculum. The committee regularly meets to determine monthly themes and curriculum calendar.
He or she oversees quality assurance of curriculum programs by helping to answer questions and training new teachers. This is a great position for teachers who enjoy being a go-to resource for their fellow team members.
A great next step for an aspiring center director is to serve as an assistant director at a center. This provides the opportunity to better understand the role of a director, including teacher engagement, center tours, payroll and more. An assistant center director is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of a U-GRO early childhood center and its overall operation. He or she is expected to step in for the director and manage the center in his or her absence, including addressing parent questions and staff needs.
In addition to management and operations, the assistant director plays an active role in family engagement. The assistant director gets to know families during new parent tours and onboarding. Additionally, he or she may send ongoing center updates to families.
In addition to various positions within our organization, many of our staff choose to take on leadership opportunities through in-service planning, Annual Recognition support, and safety committees. These are great opportunities to participate in other aspects of the organization while also meeting and interacting with other team members.
These roles are just a few of the many opportunities for teachers to grow their careers with U-GRO. We love how passionate our team members are about early learning and providing the best possible start for all of our children.
